Today, 10th and 11th graders got their PSAT scores back. (They took the PSAT back in October; why are they getting their scores now?!) Two of my smartest 10th graders came up to me during class later, uber excited about their scores. "How did you do?" I asked, equally as excited. "We got 9's!" one of them exclaimed. I looked at their score reports. They had both scored in the 9th percentile. Nice.
The saddest part is that they don't realize how far behind they are.
